ARTISTIC TRILOGY: A discourse between Painting and Cinema’’

The 32nd PANORAMA OF EUROPEAN CINEMA is held from Thursday, November 21 to Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at TRIANON Cinema (Kodrigktonos 21) and ANDORA Cinema (Sevastoupoleos 117). In collaboration with The Greek Film Critics Association (PEKK) this year’s Panorama showcases a tribute to Stanley Kubrick’s filmography. As a part of this tribute an art exhibition takes place at the Art Gallery "StoArt" (Korai Arcade). Three young painters (all graduates of Athens School of Fine Arts) exhibit their work, inspired by the filmography of this great director. The exhibition is curated by Jannis Psychopedis.

The full festival programme, screening schedule and other parallel events which consist of: world cinema premieres, international competition section, tributes, masterclasses etc., will be announced shortly.

See you in the big screen!

Concerning this year’s art exhibition Jannis Psychopedis stated:

‘’This year the Panorama of European Cinema celebrates its 32nd birthday. Nowadays Panorama is established as a cinematic institution that, apart from its durability over time, has every reason to proudly boast about the quality of its films displayed, its tributes as well as its artistic tendency and tradition. Furthermore Panorama is also proud of its audience: vigorous, restless and really committed to Panorama, its great audience supports and contributes significantly with its constant and overwhelming presence, to this enduring, long lasting and constantly renewed artistic effort.
In the past years along with the Panorama Screenings, an art exhibition has also been held as a parallel event related to the festival, seeking to express and find exactly where do film and visual arts really meet. […]
Stanley Kubrick was a cinematic giant in story-telling and hence a significant part of this year’s Panorama is dedicated to his work. Likewise, the art exhibition ‘’Artistic Trilogy – A discourse between Painting and Cinema’’ is also dedicated to this great director. […]’’
