The film is based on the book by Debora Curtis, Ian Curtis’ wife, and presents the enigmatic figure of the tragically lost artist. Ian Curtis is a quiet and rather sad young man, who works at an employment office and at his free time, sings in the band “Warsaw”. His life gets happier when he meets and marries Debbie, while, at the same time, his band gets more and more successful, under the name “Joy Division”. However, suffering from epilepsy and being under pressure because of the band gigs and his newborn son needs, he will soon lose his mind.

The film was multi-awarded in Cannes Film Festival, Chicago Film Festival, Edinburgh Film Festival and BAFTA Awards, among else.
