During 1940, while the war is at its peak, the wife of a lieutenant and a sergeant fall madly in love. The war situation and military duty on the one hand and friendship between the two men, on the other, prohibit this love, but do not negate it. When during an operation, the lieutenant is injured and taken to the hospital, the two lovers, against all moral obligation, embark on the only possible way: desertion on his part, the husband’s abandonment on her part, and together they set on a no-way-back journey to the border.
