Somewhere in the Macedonian countryside, two couples (Niki Triantafillidi – Takis Emmanouil and Faidon Georgitsis – Emilia Pita) split up when war breaks out. The two men are sent to fight on the Albanian front, along with the village teacher. The teacher is the first to fall; the two men follow soon after; the front collapses, and grief enfolds everything.
