During the Greek Civil War six brothers from Helidona village are separated. Three of them join the communist guerrilla army and the others go to the city in search of a better life. When, 40 years later, one of them dies, the others go back to their village. They look back at their lives, memories and self-criticism dominate their conversations.

The film is based on the book by Dionysis Haritopoulos.
Awards: Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Sound in 28th Thessaloniki Film Festival (1987) and Hellenic Association of Film Critics Award for Best Film.

Kenji Watanabe works as a state employee and along with his other colleagues in his office he does not do an important thing at all. After some medical examinations he learns that he is dying from cancer and he realizes that it’s time for him to give a kind of meaning in his life.

The film was nominated for the Golden Bear award at Berlin Film Festival.

Chronicling the trial of Joan of Arc in the final hours leading up to her execution, Dreyer depicts her torment in his film, a landmark of cinema and one of the best silent films ever made, not only due to its production, but mainly due to Dreyer’s expressionistic lighting and painfully intimate close-ups. The screenplay was based largely on a contemporary transcript of Joan’s trial for heresy which led to her execution. Maria Falconetti’s portrayal of Joan is considered one of the best on-screen performances in the history of cinema, and far ahead of her time.

The film will be screened accompanied by live original music by the composer Nikos Platanos.
