Valeria Golino– Short Curriculum Vitae

Actress and director. She was given her first role at the age of 16. She became famous when she played in the Oscar-winning film "Rainman". She gained prominent roles in some of the most renowned Hollywood films building an international career. She has appeared in more than 100 films and has received numerous awards in many festivals worldwide. In 1996, she collaborates with the Cypriot director Andreas Pantzis taking on the production and the lead role in the film "Slaughter of the Cock". The film was screened at Thessaloniki International Film Festival and collected five awards amongst them the award for Best Actress. Five years later, she collaborates again with Andreas Pantzis, taking on the lead role in "Evagoras Vow" who gained the Special Mention of FIPRESCI in the 42nd Thessaloniki Film Festival. Her debut in directing came with the feature film "Honey" (2013) which screened at the Cannes Festival and won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury - Special Mention. Her second feature "Euphoria" (2018) was also a nominee for the Queer Palm and for the Un Certain Regard Award at the Cannes Film Festival. She's been Member of the 'Official Competition' jury at Cannes International Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival.
